RSR News

While winter is doing its best to hang on, RSR’s first 2025 clean up of Hankerd Road—the club’s Adopted County Road—is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 (or Sunday April 13, in case of bad weather).  That’s less than 2 weeks away!  We normally schedule the team’s work for Saturday morning of the scheduled weekend, reserving Sunday as a backup date in case of bad weather on Saturday.  Note that on April 12th, there is a another scheduled club activity, the final 2025 session of Porsche Tech Talk at Stadium Auto.  However, the consensus among clean-up team members is to schedule the clean up to start a bit later that morning, at 11:30 AM, so that members can attend the final tech session for this year and still participate in the clean up afterward.

Where: We will meet at 11:30 AM in the parking lot behind Hell Saloon, 4095 Patterson Lake Rd, Pinckney, MI 48169.  Parking along Hankerd Road is limited, so we will consolidate into two vehicles for the drive to the clean-up site.  The group in one vehicle will start at the north end of Hankerd Road at the Glen Brook Road junction, picking up trash/debris while moving southward to North Territorial Road. The second group will drive to the North Territorial Road junction, make a U-turn, and head northward, cleaning the opposite side of the road, and finishing at the Glen Brook junction. There are two miles of road to clean and we typically finish in about two hours, sometimes less, and return to Hell Saloon for lunch.

Waivers: If you have previously participated in last year’s Hankerd clean ups, you have already signed the required indemnity form for the Washtenaw County Board of Road Commissioners and are eligible for this and all future clean ups.  If you want to participate and have not yet completed this form, please email Dennis Huibregtse at dennisa2@icloud.com and I will forward one to you. Simply complete and sign it, and email a scanned copy back to me ASAP, so it can be filed with WCRC before the event.  In addition, PCA National requires all event participants to sign an individual waiver. That can be done online using this Speed Waiver link:

Speed Waiver for April 12-13: https://rsppca.speedwaiver.com/pnavm

Essentials: Dress appropriately for the weather with suitable shoes for walking along the road shoulder and right-of-way.  Long trousers and shirt sleeves are recommended for insect protection, as is insect repellant.  Also, bring your favorite “trash picker” tool, along with protective gloves.  WCRC provides special orange trash bags along with the mandatory safety vests. Vests for all participants will be distributed before we start.  Also, please take a few  minutes and view WCRC’s Safety Guidelines Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjNi5MCTl9g

If you have questions, please email (same as above), or call/text (734 834 5521).  Hope to see you there!
