September Adopt-A-County-Road Clean-up

RSR’s final Hankerd Road clean-up for 2025 will take place Sunday, September 28th, rain or shine, at 10:00 AM.

This date and time avoids overlapping with the Euro Motoring breakfast-and-drive event scheduled that weekend

(see separate announcement for details of that).

Here are the details:
When: September 28th; 10:00 AM, volunteer briefing; 10:10, depart for clean-up site
Where: Parking lot behind Hell Saloon, 4095 Patterson Lake Rd, Pinckney, MI 48169.  Parking is limited along Hankerd Road and we will consolidate into a minimum number of vehicles for the clean-up.
What happens: One group starts at the north end of Hankerd Road at the Glen Brook Road junction, picking up trash/debris while moving southward to North Territorial Road. The second group will drive to the North Territorial Road junction, make a U-turn, and head northward, cleaning the opposite side of the road, and finishing at the Glen Brook junction. There are two miles of road in each direction.  If we have a sufficient number of volunteers, we will divide those sections of road for additional groups. We typically finish within 2 hours, less if we have more volunteers, and return to Hell Saloon for lunch.
Participant waivers: If you previously signed an indemnity form for the Washtenaw County Board of Road Commissioners, you are eligible for this and all future clean ups.  If you want to participate and have not yet completed this form, please email me at dennisa2@icloud.com and I will forward one to you. Simply complete and sign it, and email a scanned copy back to me ASAP, so it can be filed with WCRC before the event.  In addition, PCA National requires all event participants to sign an individual waiver. That can be done online using this Speed Waiver link:
https://rsppca.speedwaiver.com/jaqby
If you are unable to use Speed Waiver, there will be a paper waiver for you to sign at the briefing.
Essentials: Dress appropriately for prevailing weather conditions including shoes suitable for walking along the road shoulder and right-of-way.  Long trousers and shirt sleeves are recommended for insect protection, as is insect repellant.  Also, bring your favorite “trash picker” tool, along with protective gloves.  WCRC provides special orange trash bags along with the mandatory safety vests. Vests for all participants will be distributed at the briefing.  Also, please take a few  minutes and view WCRC’s Safety Guidelines Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjNi5MCTl9g
Final note: If you plan to participate and have not yet confirmed it, PLEASE email (dennisa2@icloud.com ) or text me (734-834-5521) so we know how many to expect.
Hope to see you there!
