RSR To Fly “Hairless Joe”
On August 21 at 1pm, twelve intrepid members from RSR will climb aboard “Hairless Joe”, the C-47 aircraft that is one of three flying veterans from the WW II era, for a flight in one of the war’s transport workhorses…an aircraft that still to this day is considered one of the finest aircraft designs ever created.
Twelve seats are available at the incredible rate of $185, a real bargain compared to the cost of our seats on the Museum’s B-17 and B-25. If you wish to be among the twelve who get a seat, send me your name, and then send a check made out to RSR/PCA, noting it is for a seat on the “Hairless Joe” flight, to Burghard Linn. Burghard’s address is: 5248 Milroy Lane, Brighton, MI 48116-9727 The day will start at Dom’s Bakery in Ypsilanti at 10am, where we can get a cup of coffee and some of the best donuts/pastries/bagels in town. At 11am we will depart Dom’s for a one hour driving tour that will take us through some great farm country and finish at the new hanger of the Yankee Air Museum. Everyone is welcome to join us at Dom’s and to drive the tour…but only a lucky twelve people will board “Hairless Joe” for a flight into history. For those taking the flight, admission to the Museum is included in the cost of your seat, and it is handily right next door to the new hanger where we will board “Hairless Joe” for our flight.
