Rally Sport Region Driving Instructor Code of Conduct

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 7:59 AM

As a driving instructor for Rally Sport Region (RSP) event, I will strive to achieve excellence in my professional conduct and deliver the highest quality driving instruction to my students. In keeping with the above commitment,

  • I agree not to misrepresent my abilities as a driver or instructor, or to put my fellow instructors, students or passengers at risk during RSP track events by encouraging them to drive dangerously or beyond their abilities.
  • I will strive for excellence as a driver and commit to working on maintaining and developing my driving and instructing skills for the duration of my appointment. I agree to accept and provide professional review and constructive criticism for students and fellow instructors.
  • I will strive to maintain positive communication between students, instructors, RSP and the Porsche Club of America. I agree to abide by the driving instructor guidelines issued by PCA and RSP, and agree to accept responsibility for violation of the rules.
  • When I agree to teach at an RSP event, I commit to arriving in a timely manner and to attend all required aspects of a track day, including the drivers' meeting and instructors' meeting. In the event I am unable to attend an event for which I have committed, I will advise the chief instructor or registrar in a timely manner.
  • I will show respect for all students and colleagues in my language and actions, and by exercising courtesy and respect for all event attendees. I agree to treat people fairly without regard to race, sex, religion, age, disability, or national origin.
  • I agree to keep my fellow driving instructors’ and students’ welfare in mind and treat them in a respectful and honest manner. I agree to abstain from discussing my students’ shortcomings or challenges with other instructors in a disrespectful and hurtful manner. I commit to building up students and fellow drivers, and to contribute to the positive learning process of up-and-coming instructors.
  • While carrying out my professional responsibilities at an RSP event, I agree to set aside conflicts between myself and students, fellow instructors or others. If I am unable to resolve a conflict with a student or fellow instructor for the duration of an RSP event, I agree to accept a student re-assignment from the chief instructor or to recuse my teaching duties for the remainder of the event.
  • If a problem or disagreement arises between my student and another student or between myself and a student assigned to a fellow instructor, I will not approach the student directly until I first discuss the matter with their assigned instructor and/or the Chief Instructor to attempt resolution.
  • If I am unable to resolve a disagreement at an RSP event or in a timely manner afterward, I agree to meet with the RSP Chief Instructor and the track committee at a later date (within 60 days of the incident) to discuss a resolution for the issue. I agree to accept the resolution the RSP track committee agrees upon as binding, whether the outcome is in my favor or not.
  • I agree to use all PCA/RSP safety resources available to provide a positive learning environment for all students, and agree to take seriously the safety of students who have been put in my care.
  • I understand that violation of any of the items outlined in this Code of Conduct can result in temporary suspension of my driving instructor privileges or permanent removal from the RSP driving instructor roster.

As an instructor for Rally Sport Region Porsche Club of America in good standing, I consent to uphold and promote the principles of this code. I recognize that RSP-approved instructors that have gone before me established this code of conduct and others that follow will follow not only its tenets, but also the example set by others and myself.
