Additionally, links to FAQs for Porsches (early 911s, 924/944/968s, 928s, 996s) can be found at the bottom of the page. (If someone knows of a 914 FAQ, please let me know.)

How do I join Porsche Club of America?

It's rather easy. Just contact Glenn Trapp, our membership chairman, and he'll send you a form (this form is also in our newsletter). Fill it out and send it back to him. (Include "Rally Sport" as the region you want to join, if it's not already indicated.) He'll authorize it and send it to the Porsche Club of America (PCA) national office. It should take about two to four weeks to do all of this.

PCA's only stipulation is that you own a Porsche (with a VIN). We didn't come up with that rule, they did.

How much does it cost?

The normal rate is $42 / year (as of 1-Jan-2000) and an appendage from your body. As a special web offer, you can waive your appendage. Send a check when you return the membership form to Glenn Trapp, or fill out the credit card information on the form. Gratuities are always welcomed.

Where is Rally Sport Region located?

The Rally Sport, the "fast, fun, friendly" region, is in southeastern Michigan, around the Detroit / Ann Arbor area. However, we have active members from Manitoba, Canada to Bavaria, Germany, mostly as a result of a recent Anschluss.

Why is the sky blue?

Because...um... go ask your mother. Or better yet, that's why we have the Internet.

Can I be a member of Rally Sport and another PCA region?

Well... hemm, hemm, ..., haw, haw,... maybe. One of our members was in both Rally Sport and Central New York regions at one time. He said that he just paid the membership dues twice, once for each region. I've asked the central PCA (Porsche Club of America) office, and I've gotten a "yes" and a "no" from them. If you were going to try to do this, I think you can if you pay twice. Let me know what happens if you try.

Who's in charge here?

It all depends on what "here" means. Check out the RSR Officers page for all pertinent information.

If you're not sure with whom you need to get in touch, please e-mail me at webmaster@rsrpca.org.

Why the Fast, Fun, Friendly Region?

Fast - because you have to be if you want to get any of the Food in our events.
Fun - because there's Food in our events.
Friendly - because that's how we'll greet you at our events -- especially if you bring Food.

And because Food is a noun, not an adjective. Plus we have this affinity for 'F' words.

I want 500 hp in my Porsche. How can I do that without spending more than $500?

After you stop smoking that wacky stuff, there's this secret carburetor that you can get that will not only increase your horsepower, but will let you get over 100 miles per gallon as well! It will also slice carrots, mince onions and cook a roast all while you drive! It's currently being tested by the US automobile manufacturers in an Air Force facility in Nevada called Area 51. When the results of their tests are finalized, you'll be the first to know if you check out this site regularly.

Where are club meetings held?

I'd like to confess that the meetings are held monthly in the homes of the Knights of the Templars, and are conducted in a secret Sanskrit dialect, but I'm not allowed to mention any of that. For next month's meeting and extra virgin olive oil sacrifice, please consult the Events page.

What kinds of events does the Rally Sport Region have?

Fast, Fun, Friendly kinds. With Food. There are driving tours, like the Fall Color tour, a very popular event. Events in the past have included wall climbing, go-karting, factory tours, tech sessions, model car racing, Whirly ball, autocrosses and dinners. By far the most popular event we hold are the driving schools.

What are the driving schools all about?

For a few of us, the driving schools are a way to prove just how "manly" we are ("my turbo's bigger than your turbo..."). But that's not the real intent.

For the rest, it's a way to improve your driving skill in your car. It's held at a local race
track in Waterford, and lasts all day. For more information, check out the Events page under Track Events.

Does my name have to be Andretti or Schumacher to attend the driving schools?

No, but if you do happen to have one of the names above, we would simply charge you much more for attending. The driving schools range from beginners to advanced drivers. You will be placed in a group mostly based on your experience and driving competence, and how much money you wire to my private Swiss account.

I heard that the Porsche club was full of snobby people. Is that true?

Who told you that? Whoever it was is off our Christmas with the Friends of Bill Gates holiday dinner! It's also entirely possible that they may have meant "sloppy" instead of snobby, due to the large quantities of Good Food at our events.

Come join us in an event and we'll prove this myth wrong. Uhh... bring Food.
